Founded by lifelong friends Megan Brebner and Whitney Gibbs, MaCara was born from a shared passion for travel, meaningful experiences, and helping others discover the world in unforgettable ways. After more than twenty years of friendship and countless adventures together, we created MaCara to bring a more personal, thoughtful approach to travel planning.

Why MaCara?
The name MaCara was inspired by the Irish phrase Mo Chara, meaning "my friend." It reflects the heart of our business—building genuine relationships and creating meaningful travel experiences. Meet the Founders
Megan Brebner
Travel advisor, itinerary-obsessed planner, and the person you call when you have 37 tabs open and still aren’t sure which hotel, island, or destination is actually right for you.
My love for travel started in 2018 on my first international trip to Greece. A few years later, while working in healthcare and planning my own honeymoon back to Greece, I caught myself thinking, “Wait…would someone actually pay me to plan travel for them?”
Turns out, they would.
I launched my first travel business, Hera Getaways, specializing in honeymoons, destination weddings, and romance travel. Since then, my love of planning has grown into a career helping others experience more of the world—with plenty of trips of my own along the way.
Today, I specialize in thoughtfully planned trips throughout Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean, with a particular love (and a whole lot of knowledge) for Greece.
I’m naturally organized, thorough, and probably a little too excited by a beautifully planned itinerary. I love discovering a great hotel, figuring out the logistics of a multi-stop trip, and telling someone when the popular option actually isn’t worth their time or money.
For me, travel isn’t about checking as many places as possible off a list. It’s about spending your time and money on experiences that are genuinely worth having.

Whitney Gibbs
Travel advisor, history enthusiast, and the friend who somehow has everyone's flights, hotel options, and color-coded itinerary organized before the trip is even booked.
I've loved travel for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I've been fortunate to explore the world for both work and pleasure, from traveling throughout Europe to spending a month living and working in Australia as a nanny. Experiencing a destination like a local completely changed the way I think about travel—it taught me that the best trips aren't about rushing from one landmark to the next, but about slowing down, embracing the culture, and discovering the places that make a destination truly unforgettable.
I've always been the planner in my family and friend group, so turning that passion into a career felt like a natural fit. Today, I love helping others experience the excitement of discovering somewhere new without the stress of planning every detail themselves.
As a lifelong history lover, I'm fascinated by the stories behind the places we visit. Whether it's wandering through centuries-old castles, exploring charming villages, or standing where history was made, I believe every destination has something incredible to teach us. I love creating itineraries that balance iconic landmarks with hidden gems, giving travelers the chance to experience both the highlights and the heart of a destination.
